Introduction
- Contest Mode offers players the choice of choosing from various courses suited to different skill levels.
- Players choose a number of songs from a preset list and the total completion rate from all chosen songs is their final score for that course.
- Various rewards are granted whenever the course score reaches a quota.
- The explanation on the official (English) website is here.
Summary
- Contest Mode is fundamentally similar to Normal Mode. FAILED or MISS×TAKE results in a game over.
- After selecting Contest Mode, a choice of Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced is presented for the course.
- If a previous course has not been completed, Resume or Retry can be selected for that course.
- If a new course is chosen, the progress of all other incomplete courses will be reset.
- While multiple courses cannot be attempted simultaneously, Normal Mode can be played in between the games played under Contest Mode.
- Once a song has been cleared for a course, it will disappear from the selection list.
- Personal highscores and trials can be attempted as normal.
- After every song, a bar gauge will tally your total course score.
- If the total course score hits a reward quota (bronze, silver or gold), the tally will pause momentarily to congratulate the player and give the reward.
- Each reward can only be obtained once.
- If the course is completed on the first song, the second song will revert back to Normal Mode.
- This can happen if the player gets a game over on the first song then proceed to clear all other songs in the course.
- Starting from the 11th Contest, a VP bonus will be rewarded to players simply for playing in each course. This bonus can only be received once per course per contest per player.
