Items can be bought on the Song Start Screen by selecting リズムゲームアイテム (Rhythm Game Item). Doing so will open a list of the Items which can be instantly bought by paying with your DIVA Points and will be used in the following song. Only one item can be used at a time. These items are only good for one try and will have to be re-bought when you retry. DIVA Points will be subtracted as soon you start the song.
The Rhythm Game Items are divided into Help and Challenge Items. Help Items will make the song easier, while the Challenge Items increase difficulty, but giving you more DIVA Points at the end, also, the price for Challenge Items is different for each difficulty. If an item is used the category will be shown in the lower right of the HUD, above the Completion Gauge, during the song, and below the difficulty on the result screen. A small green heart will be displayed next to the rank on the Song Record when a song was cleared with a Help Item, there is no icon for Challenge Items.
If なし (None) is selected when the song is started, no item will take effect and no DIVA Points will be used, even if the player selected another item before.
In the table below, the prices for different difficulties are represented with E (Easy), N (Normal), H (Hard) and X (Extreme).
